🌿 The Story Behind the Artwork
Kiwi Nest began as a quiet meditation on care, protection, and the gentle instincts of one of New Zealand’s most iconic birds. Spending over 30 hours drawing this piece, I imagined a tender moment: a kiwi cradling its egg, nudging it closer with its beak, curled protectively in the nest.

While this scene is not biologically accurate - kiwi would normally sit directly on their eggs - it reflects a feeling I wanted to capture: the warmth of parental care, the small gestures that signify love and vigilance, and the quiet drama of life in the forest at night.

Rendered in graphite, every line and shadow was drawn to evoke softness, intimacy, and the natural textures of the forest floor. Now professionally framed, this original artwork invites the viewer to linger over the gentle interaction and imagine the hidden world of New Zealand’s nocturnal wildlife.
