Bouquet of Forest is the first artwork in my hand series, exploring the connection between people and the natural world through moments of holding, protecting, and celebrating the forest.
The idea began with imagining the forest as something precious enough to be gathered and held, not as something to own, but something to appreciate and care for. A hand gently cradles a living bouquet of native forest, where leaves, branches, and textures merge into a surreal yet familiar celebration of New Zealand’s natural landscapes.
Created in black ballpoint pen over 49 hours, this detailed monochrome drawing was built slowly, layer by layer and line by line. Every element, from the delicate leaves to the intricate shadows, was carefully developed to create a sense of discovery, inviting the viewer to look closer and find new details within the forest.
Created from an original ballpoint pen drawing, Bouquet of Forest is available as a fine art giclée print, preserving the depth, detail, and character of the original artwork.
