I had wanted to draw a kiwi for a long time, and this artwork was created from a deep appreciation for a species that holds such a special place in Aotearoa. Through conservation work, I have had the rare opportunity to encounter kiwi up close, as well as seeing them in the wild and in protected sanctuaries.
Originally drawn in graphite, this artwork captures the fine detail and textures that bring this special species to life.
