I Saw is a symbolic ink drawing inspired by a vintage logging saw from New Zealand’s past. The artwork explores the balance between use and care, how our history with the land shapes its future.
The saw’s blade cuts into native timber, yet new life emerges from it: saplings, trees and ferns growing where you’d expect loss. A lumberjack, a curious weka, and a watchful morepork connect the human story to the forest’s wild spirit.
Created for the Te Hikoi Museum Art Challenge in 2024, I Saw reflects endurance, renewal, and our shared responsibility for the natural world.
Size: 30cm x 40cm (plus a generous white border for framing flexibility)
Finish: Archival-quality giclée print on luxurious, heavyweight fine art paper
Artist’s Touch: Each print is individually hand-signed by the artist
